Texas-Oklahoma Wildflower Mix
This mixture is formulated for sowing in most of Oklahoma, except for the extreme eastern area, and for Texas, excluding the extreme eastern and southern regions. (Note: For these hotter regions, try our "Southeastern Wildflower Mix.") Like our other wildflower mixes, they include species of annual flowers to provide color the first season, as well as perennial flowers for blooms for years to come.
Each packet contains one (1) ounce and will cover approximately 125 square feet.
The mix includes the following annual and perennial varieties: White Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), Bachelor Buttons (Centaurea cyanus), Lance Leaf Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata), Plains Coreopsis (Coreopsis tinctoria), Purple Coneflower(Echinacea purpurea), Indian Blanket (Gaillardia pulchella), Annual Baby's Breath (Gypsophilla elegans), Candytuft (Iberis umbellata), Spurred Snapdragon (Linaria maroccana), Scarlet Flax (Linum grandiflorum rubrum), Blue Flax (Linum lewisii), Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima),Texas Blue Bonnet (Lupinus texensis), Lemon Mint (Monarda citriodora), Dwarf Evening Primrose (Oenothera missouriensis), Showy Primrose (Oenothera speciosa), Red Shirley Poppy (Papaver rhoeas), Phlox (Phlox drummondii), Red Prairie Coneflower (Ratibida columnifera), Clasping Coneflower (Ratibida amplexicaulis), Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta), Scarlet Sage (Salvia coccinea).
Planting Instructions: As early in the spring as possible, prepare your flower bed site by removing weeds and loosening the soil. You can sow the seeds by broadcasting and then raking them into the soil. The goal is for the seeds to make good soil contact and to be covered with light soil no more than two-and-a-half times their thickness. Germination will start occurring when the soil reaches about 55ºF. The area will need to be kept moist until germination occurs.
