Garden Peach Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3400591

90 days, indeterminate - Also known as 'Yellow Peach', 'Garden Peach' is an old commercial heirloom tomato variety. Its vigorous, regular leaf plants produce globe-shaped fruit that weigh from one to three ounces each, are a beautiful yellow color, and exhibit a characteristic pubescence (fuzziness) on their surface; much like a peach. The fruit store well and have a good, slightly sweet, mild flavor.

In her book entitled, "The Heirloom Tomato: From Garden to Table: Recipes, Portraits, and History of the World's Most Beautiful Fruit," Amy Goldman credits the origin of peach tomatoes to the plant breeding work of Elbert S. Carman, owner and editor of The Rural New-Yorker magazine. He introduced it in 1890 under the name of 'White Peach'. Seed companies immediately began listing the novelty under various synonyms and by the early 1900s, the efforts of their own breeding work had resulted in several new "peach-type" varieties. We have been growing this variety since 2001 and offering it since 2003.

Fruit Color: Orange
Fruit Color: Yellow
Special Groups: "Epic" Tomatoes
Harvest Timing: Late Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

★★★★★ Fuzzy cutie!
By TomatoNut95 (TX) on January 3, 2025

This variety is a heavy producer, giving loads of small, yellow fruits that are slightly fuzzy and very juicy. They are sweet and are a favorite of my mother's.
