Special Turkish
75 days, indeterminate — 'Special Turkish' plants are vigorous and productive. Its fruit are large (thirteen to seventeen ounce), oblate-shaped, and pink in color. It is a slicing variety that is meaty and very good tasting.
Originally sent to us in 2003 by Melvin Christensen of Corbett, Oregon, he also referred to the variety as "Spec-T" in his correspondences. He told is that he had received seeds in 1972 from a co-worker of his at Tektronix who in turn had received them from friends some years prior. Those friends had collected the variety in Turkey while serving in the Peace Corps. We introduced it to the gardening public in 2005. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
