55 days — Also know as 'Spartan Striped' and 'Striped Half Runner', the semi-vining bushes are vigorous and productive. The pods are slender, light-green in color, reach about five inches long by up to 3/8-inches across. The seeds are tan with brown striping.

'Spartan Half Runner' is a multipurpose variety and its pods do get stringy as they mature, but harvested at the young, tender stage, they are an excellent snap or green bean. If allowed to mature, they can be harvested for shelly beans or even later for use as a dry bean. USDA ARS accession number PI 549598. Each ounce contains approximately 90 to 100 seeds.

Planting Instructions:
Beans prefer well-drained, rich soil in a sunny location. Make sure you keep them well watered in the summer heat.

Beans are a tender vegetable and you should not plant them until all danger of frost has passed and the soil remains above 65ºF. Sow seeds 1-1½ inches deep, every two to three inches. Bush-type beans do not require support.

For seed saving, allow pods to remain on the plant until they are brittle and open easily. However, if you live in an area with a short growing season, harvest as close to dry as possible and finish drying indoors. Rain and freezing temps will damage beans.
