Over the years, I've looked for that pea that my parents grew, but hadn't had any luck. This pea ticks all the boxes. Prolific, beautiful upright plants, and one of the tastiest purplehulls we've ever had. The pods are long and full of big peas. Planted two short experimental rows in 2016 to see if they would do well in our neck of the woods. This year, we've dedicated six, 24 foot rows to them. This will be our go to pea from now on!

This is my first experience growing cowpeas and I am delighted with them. They grew well in the Florida summer heat, with no fertilizer or watering (well, we did get a lot of rain). Today, early September, I picked my first beans. I ate them green, not dried, along with a few immature pods as snap beans. I added to boiling water and simmered for five minutes. The taste was sweet and flavorful! Each pod had 10 to 12 peas.

We purchased Quickpick Pinkeye Southern Pea twice last year, first we got 2- 1/4 lb pkgs, then ordered another 1/4 lb pkg to plant later. Had a wonderful crop and are still enjoying them. They are delicious! Planted easily, harvested easily, canned beautifully. They were so good, we have decided to plant more this year!
