Poppy, Lauren's Grape

Papaver somniferum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 1001201

The beautiful, unusually deep purple colored flowers of 'Lauren's Grape' bloom in the summer. Plants grow twelve to thirty inches. Poppies prefer partial sun and dry soil.

Seeds should be surface sown, directly into your garden, in the late winter to early spring. They require temperature fluctuations in order for the seeds to break dormancy. They are quite tiny so mixing with sand may aid in distribution.

If you are sowing indoors, surface sow on sterile seed starting mix, use a mister to water them in, and cover the pot or flat so that the seeds do not dry out. Place into your refrigerator for about twelve hours, remove and keep at room temperature for twelve hours. Repeat this cycle for about a week. This process is an attempt to mimic the natural conditions it requires. Germination typically occurs in about 30 days.

Each packet contains 0.25 gram, which is approximately 800 seeds.

★★★★★ Based on the customer service, I think these seeds will be brilliant
By Hi There (Philadelphia) on September 20, 2024

I haven't grown this beauty yet, but I feel from my recent customer service experience that these genetics will be solid. Any company that answers customer voicemails within 24 hours and acts in like time clearly stands by their products. I had a shipping snafu cleared up in 24 hours of me contacting these people. It's hard to get that kind of service anymore, and to talk to an actual person was also refreshing. I offered to alert the customer service team if my seeds arrived so they wouldn't send a double, about which they assured me not to worry, and to enjoy my extra seeds, or something, if that happened. Well, they replaced my package so fast (24 hours, in my mailbox) that it did happen, and now I will enjoy them. Thanks for that. And if they're as good as I expect them to be, then I will write a proper review. But I needed to highlight this positive experience now and not in 4 months. I also purchased some Burley and Virginia Gold Tobacco seeds and I expect those to do just as well. Thanks Guys, Hi There

I've been trying to succeed in growing Breadseed Poppies for the last 3 years. Having little to NO seeds actually germinate I've been purchasing seeds from different places and hopefully the ones i get this year 2024 will be the one that finally works out. Thanks again.
