Also known as 'Pot Marigold', Calendula was once used as a potherb, the leaves were added to soups and stews. The plants bloom in wonderful shades of oranges and yellows in the summer and fall. Prefers well-drained, sunny locations.

Sow seeds ¼ inch deep, spacing them about 12 inches apart. They germinate in 5–10 days. Direct sowing is often preferred since calendula doesn't always transplant well. Water regularly but avoid overwatering. Once established, calendula is fairly drought tolerant.
