Morning Glory, Heavenly Blue

Convolvulus arvensis

Price: $2.75

SKU: 1000101

'Heavenly Blue' morning glory flowers are a bright blue color shading lighter towards the center to white. Their vines can reach twelve feet and should be given support on which to climb.

Some people resist planting Morning Glory's out of fear that they take over and become hard to get rid of. In reality, they have been unfairly given a bad name. Although they share common names with a weedy, intrusive plant, their botanical name is Ipomoea and although they may self-sow in some areas, they do not spread via underground runners like Bindweed, Convolvulus arvensis, which is also known as "Wild Morning Glory."

Morning Glory seeds tend to be hard seeded and germination can be improved by nicking the seed coat and/or soaking overnight in warm, not hot, water prior to planting. Start seeds indoors a few weeks before your last frost date or directly in the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Germination may take up to three weeks. Each packet contains one (1) gram, which is approximately 20 seeds.

★★★★★ Best Heavenly Blue Morning Glory ever!
By Barbara Brown on April 15, 2013

This morning glory far exceeded all expectations! I planted rather late in the season, directly into the garden yet they grew profusely, covered the pergola and bloomed until the first hard frost. Better yet, as promised, they did not spread.
