Moravsky Div Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3402441

70 days, indeterminate - The potato leaf plants of 'Moravsky Div' are a very compact, indeterminate type that are very productive. Its fruit are red in color, globe shaped, about two ounces each, and borne in clusters. It is a very good tasting saladette-type tomato.

Originally released by Moravoseed in Czechoslovakia, it is reportedly a strain of 'Stupice'. The name 'Moravsky Div' translates from Czech as "The Wonder from Moravia." We received our original seed in 2010 from our friend, the late Dr. Carolyn Male (NY MA C). She received the variety from Andrey Baranovski of Minsk, Belarus in 2008.
Fruit Color: Red
Harvest Timing: Early/Short Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

★★★★★ Good, early salad tomato.
By Don Shirer on January 16, 2017

A nice size for salads, and early in the season. A bit better taste and production than Stupice, from which it was supposedly derived. It continued producing for me well into September.
