Marvelosa Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3402571

83 days, indeterminate - 'Marvelosa' is a good producer of medium sized (four to eight ounce), smooth, meaty, globular to slightly oblate, pink colored fruit. The fruit ripen uniformly and are very smooth, even around the stem end. It was once very popular with Southern truck growers.[2]

Bred by Fred J. Pritchard of the USDA as a stabilized cross between the now presumed extinct 'Marvel' and 'Ponderosa'. 'Marvelosa' was released in 1924.[1]

Our stock was grown out from seed originally obtained from the USDA back in 2003 (GRIN accession number PI 452002.) We re-released it to the gardening public for the 2013 gardening season.
Fruit Color: Pink
Fruit Color: Purple
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.
