60 days, dwarf — The plants of 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' have regular leaf, dark green rugose foliage with stout central stems and grows to about three feet tall. Fruit are smooth and round to oblate, ranging from three to eight ounces, and ripen pink (clear skin, red interior). Flavor is well balanced and delicious.
Developed between 2006 and 2012 by the members of the "Dwarf Tomato Project" from a cross between 'Budai Torpe' and 'Black from Tula', made in 2006 by Patrina Nuske Small in Australia and named 'Grumpy'. Sherry Shiesl and Susan Bailey of Alaska carried out the majority of the selection work on this new variety, which was named collaboratively by them in 2011. Ted Maiden grew out the initial seed supply for its 2012 introduction. Each packet contains about 20 seeds.
In an effort to keep this variety available to home gardeners, 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' has been released by "The Dwarf Tomato Project" (the breeder) to the public under the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, if you save seeds or use 'Dwarf Arctic Rose' to breed a new variety, you pledge not to restrict others' use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives.
