Indark Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3402831

85 days, indeterminate - 'Indark' produces beautiful, smooth-skinned, fruit that are oblate in shape, red in color, meaty and tasty and large (weighing up to twenty ounces).  They are also resistant to cracking and Fusarium wilt.

Bred by University of Arkansas, Fayetteville as a stabilized cross between 'Rutgers' and 'Pan America'.  It was released to seedsmen in 1954 by Libby, McNeill, and Libby (the food product company).

Although it was said to be adapted for "the Southern United Stated and Indiana,"[1] it proved to be a good performer here on the farm in Oregon. Our seed was grown out from USDA GRIN accession number  NSL 22401 (PI 644844).
Fruit Color: Red
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.
