Plants stay short at 4 to 4 1/2 feet tall, carries two ears measuring 7 to 8 inches, filled with 12 to 14 rows of deep kernels. It germinates in cooler soils, and has frost and cold resistance. One grower reported that Early Sunglow came through 28 degrees F after a sprinkler left running overnight coated the plants in ice. That toughness lets you plant earlier than usual and, in many areas, pick your first corn by July. Getting the crop in early also helps avoid the worst of corn earworm infestation later in summer.
