Dwarf Jade Beauty Tomato
Dwarf Jade Beauty Tomato
85 days, dwarf — 'Dwarf Jade Beauty' has deep green, rugose potato leaf foliage and a very stout central stem, growing to about four feet in height. Its fruit are sweet, round, weigh two to five ounces, are green when ripe but can have a hint of pink blush on their blossom end. It is a quite stable open-pollinated variety but still may produce the occasional off-type plant.
Introduced in 2011, 'Dwarf Jade Beauty' originated from a cross made in 2006 between 'Golden Dwarf Champion' (a medium fruited yellow dwarf) with 'Green Giant' by Dwarf Tomato Project co-founder Patrina Nuske Small in Australia. This variety was selected and named by Craig LeHoullier after the gemstone Jade, which exhibits coloring similar to the fruit. Others involved in its development were Lisa Moore, Richard Watson (New Zealand), Howard Kushner, Russell Pietsch, and Bill Minkey. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
