90 days, indeterminate — The potato leafed vines produce golden-yellow, large fruit weighing up to two pounds. The tomatoes have a creamy texture and an excellent, intense flavor that can be a bit more on the tart side than one would expect out of a yellow-fruited tomato.
'Yellow Brandywine' was sent to author and tomato authority Craig LeHoullier in 1991 by Barbara Lund of Ohio. She reported that she had received the variety from Charles Knoy of Indiana. Craig subsequently provided samples to Rob Johnston, owner of Johnny's Select Seeds, and that is how the variety became available to the gardening public.
It should be noted that beyond these mentioned facts, the history becomes clouded. It appears that the first mention of a "Brandywine" tomato in the commercial seed trade was in reference to the introduction of the red-fruited variety in the late 1800s. We know of no connection between the original 'Red Brandywine' tomato and this one. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
