90 days, indeterminate — The beef-steak type fruit of 'Improved Colossal Red', as the name implies, are large and a nice red color. It is a wonderful slicer with a good balance of sweet and tartness, with a great texture, and very meaty.
The result of selective breeding from an old variety named 'Richmeat', 'Improved Colossal Red' was part of a 1948 group introduction of by the old Burgess Seed and Plant Company of Galesburg, Michigan. Included in the release were 'Improved Colossal Yellow', 'Improved Colossal Red', 'Improved Colossal Crimson' and 'Improved Colossal Orange'.
Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
