Allium cepa
This hybrid short day onion is the variety grown in Georgia as Vidalia onions and in Texas as Noonday onions. Excellent for southern gardens, it produces flat, white globes, very sweet, stores for up to 2 months after harvest.
Pink Root (caused by Phoma terrestris) is a major soil-borne disease of onions that reduces both the yield and quality of bulbs. The PRR in the name of this variety indicates that this cultivar is resistant to Pink Root.
Each packet is 1 gram which is approximately 200 seeds.
Plant onion seeds ½ inch deep, two to four seeds per inch in rows spaced twelve to sixteen inches apart. Thin the plants to four inches apart to allow the bulbs room to develop. Use thinnings as green onions.
