90 days, indeterminate — The regular leaf plants of 'Winsall' produce juicy, large fruit, averaging about one pound each, that are oblate shaped and pink in color. They have an excellent flavor that is mildly sweet with just a hint of tartness. It is an excellent slicing tomato.
We have grown this variety many times over the years with seed from various sources. What these various commercial seed suppliers supplied ultimately did not match the historical record. Additionally, many have incorrectly been calling it, "Wins All."
'Winsall' was originally introduced in a limited trial to their customers by the Peter Henderson Seed Company in 1924 as "Number 400." They renamed it 'Winsall' the following year stating, "It Wins Approval from 40,000 People—It Wins Prizes Wherever Shown—It Wins by Its Qualities of Sweetness, Solidity and Seedlessness—It Wins Because of Its Wonderful Size and Gorgeous Color."
Our 'Winsall' seed originated from USDA accession number NSL 20615 (PI 644841) and was sent to us by Craig LeHoullier. Each packet contains at least 20 seeds.
