Uralskiy Ranniy Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $3.95

SKU: 3402321

51 days, determinate - 'Uralskiy Ranniy' is an extremely early variety with enormous amounts of red, globe-shaped, one to six ounce fruit that are borne in clusters of six to ten. They have beautifully smooth skin and a deliver a pleasant, mild flavor.

It is a Russian commercial variety that was sent to us in 2008 by seed saver, Andrey Baranovski of Minsk (BELR BA A). We introduced it to home gardeners in North America in 2009. 'Uralskiy Ranniy' translates from Russian to English as "Early from the Urals."

Fruit Color: Red
Harvest Timing: Early/Short Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

★★★★★ Good indoor/pot plant
By Christine Mohn on July 9, 2021

This stayed the smallest of the dwarfs I grew making it suitable for indoors/ pot growing under lights. First to mature. I got cherry sized tomatoes that were big on flavor.

★★★★★ The winner for that first of the season tomato.
By Rebecca Harrell on July 28, 2016

Every year the first one to ripen! Plants are easily contained in a cage. Grown in Earthboxes in Greenhouse and in garden. Uralskiy is the winner for that first of the season tomato.
