Tidwell German Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3400671

80 days, indeterminate - 'Tidwell German' plants are large and vigorous with regular leaves. They produce pink fruit that typically average one to two pounds each. Suckering the plants can result in fruit weighing more than three pounds each. Moderate drought resistance but does not like wet conditions.

They have an excellent, mild flavor and are perfect for picking fresh and slicing. With its meaty flesh and few seed, it makes a good thick juice.

This is a family heirloom from the Tidwell family of Middle Tennessee who have been growing it since at least the 1920s. Our 'Tidwell German' seed is raised in Tennessee by the descendant who introduced these to the gardening public in 2000, David Pendergrass.
Fruit Color: Pink
Fruit Color: Purple
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.
