Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3404501

75 days, indeterminate - The regular-leaf plants of 'Thessaloniki' are vigorous, have good leaf coverage, and are productive. Their fruit are red colored, six to eighteen ounces each, globe to flattened-globe shaped, with firm flesh that has a slightly sweet, berry-like flavor and a tart aftertaste. Resistant to sunburn, spots and cracking. Keeps well even after ripe.

Introduced by the now defunct Glecklers Seedmen in 1958.[1] They described that they had received their seed from the Ministry of Agriculture Farm in Greece. Our seed originated from USDA GRIN accession number PI 303795 which was donated by Gleckler to the USDA on June 9, 1965.

Fruit Color: Red
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.
