65 days. Sun Sugar F1 is a hybrid, indeterminate cherry tomato grown for its sweet, candy-like flavor balanced by a touch of tomato tang. It's one of the most grown cherry tomato varieties among home gardeners, and for good reason.

Each fruit is small, round to slightly oblate, and weighs about half an ounce. The skin starts golden yellow and ripens to a deep orange (as pictured) at full maturity, when the sweetness is strongest. Despite being thin-skinned, Sun Sugar is very crack resistant, even through uneven watering or rainy stretches.

Sun Sugar plants are vigorous growers, reaching up to 7 feet on strong vines. Fruits form in clusters, with steady yields from early summer all the way until the first frost. Each tomato also contains about three times more vitamin A than most standard red tomatoes. This variety shows resistance to fusarium wilt and tomato mosaic virus.

Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.
