Serendipity Sweet Corn is a hybrid bicolor sweet corn and one of the first TripleSweet™ varieties. TripleSweet™ corn puts two kernel types on the same ear: sugary-enhanced (se) kernels and supersweet (sh2) kernels. The se kernels give the corn its tender, crunchy bite and classic corn flavor, and the sh2 kernels add extra sweetness and help the ears stay sweet longer. The result is a good balance of sweetness and regular corn taste. Like everything that Victory Seed Company sells, Serendipity is Non-GMO.
Serendipity reaches maturity in 80 days. The plants are vigorous, grow quickly, and stand about 6 to 7 feet tall. Each plant produces well-filled ears about 8 inches long, with 16 to 18 rows of white and yellow kernels that fill all the way to the tip. Tight green husks cover the ears, which helps keep them fresh and offers some protection from pests. The variety also has intermediate resistance to Southern corn leaf blight (SCLB).
One of the main strengths of Serendipity is its holding ability. Ripe ears stay in good condition on the stalk longer than many sweet corn types, so you don't have to pick everything at once. The harvested ears also have a long shelf life. This makes Serendipity a practical choice for home gardens, roadside stands, and farmers markets.
