Sensation Mix Flowering Tobacco
Nicotiana alata
This beautiful, ornamental flowering tobacco has fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers in mixed shades of carmine, pink, purple and white. It is attractive to pollinating insects and hummingbirds. The plants grow eighteen to thirty-six inches tall and are ideal for cottage, fragrant and cut flower gardens. Thrives in a location with moist, well-drained soil and that receives partial shade to full sun.
This tender annual, when sown in the spring, blooms in the summer. Like other tobacco species, this one lends itself to getting an early start on the season by starting seeds indoors in pots about six weeks prior to the last expected frost date for the spring. Each packet contains 0.1 gram, which is hundreds of seeds.
Tobacco plants are very interesting, ornamental, and have uses apart from consumption. This section of the website is intended for the historical and informational purposes of thinking adults. Anyone who has been raised since the turn of the 20th century already knows that tobacco can be addictive and can contribute to various medical ailments. If you do not smoke, it would seem illogical to start. We in no way encourage people to use any form of tobacco product.
