Determinate - 70-85 days to maturity. Red Velvet is a compact "micro tomato" variety that reaches only 6 to 8 inches in both height and width. It's small size makes it perfect for small spaces like windowsills, patio tables, or indoor container gardening. Despite its petite size, Red Velvet produces exceptionally sweet and flavorful fruits, typically ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 inch in diameter.
Unlike many other micro varieties, Red Velvet benefits from the support of a small stake to help keep the plant upright as it matures. It also prefers slightly drier conditions, so we recommend watering only when the soil feels dry to the touch.

Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.
Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.
Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.
