90 days, indeterminate — The regular leaf plants of 'Pink Accordion' produce medium sized (five to ten ounce), very interestingly shaped, "pleated" fruit.
We do not know a great deal about this variety. Our seed was originally received in the latter part of the 1990s from a seed saver. It possibly has commercial origins but very few companies have carried it and no substantiated history has been found. What we do know is that this is a very ancient fruit shape. From late 19th Century narratives, irregular and pleated types quite common, although not particularly desirable.
It wasn't until the work of A. W. Livingston that modern tomato varieties became consistently standardized on smooth-skinned, regularly shaped varieties.
Although we originally grew this variety out based on its curious shape, we were happily surprised to discover they are a really good flavored slicing tomato. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
