80 days, dwarf — A mid-season, rugose, regular leaf dwarf, supplying good yields of perfectly round fruit that range from three to five ounces, are smooth, and purple colored (similar to 'Cherokee Purple'). 'Perth Pride' is juicy, richly full-flavored, tangy and a distinct refreshing tartness. Begin to restrict water as the tomatoes start to ripen as this fine variety is thin skinned and may split.
Developed between 2006 to 2011 by members of the "Dwarf Tomato Project" as a selection out of the "Happy family" ('New Big Dwarf' and 'Paul Robeson', cross made in 2006 by Patrina Nuske Small of Australia). During the Australian summer of 2007/08, 'Perth Pride' was selected and named by Tessa Millesse who lives in Perth, Western Australia. It was introduced in 2011. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
In an effort to keep this variety available to home gardeners, 'Perth Pride' has been released by "The Dwarf Tomato Project" (the breeder) to the public under the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI). You have the freedom to use these OSSI-Pledged seeds in any way you choose. In return, if you save seeds or use 'Perth Pride' to breed a new variety, you pledge not to restrict others' use of these seeds or their derivatives by patents or other means, and to include this pledge with any transfer of these seeds or their derivatives.
