68 days — Also found listed as 'Oregon Sugar Pod 2' and 'Oregon Sugarpod II', the pods of 'Oregon Sugar Pod II' peas are sweet and succulent on plants that grow to about thirty inches in height. Developed for commercial freezing use, they are a great choice for home gardeners for the same purpose, as well as for fresh eating and stir fry recipes. The seeds are a semi-wrinkled type.[1]

Stabilized from a complex cross over a long period of time, 'Oregon Sugar Pod II' is another of the variety introductions from Dr. James R. Baggett's program at Oregon State University. Originally released in 1985, 'Oregon Sugar Pod II' exhibits resistance to pea enation mosaic virus, powdery mildew, and fusarium wilt race 1.[1] Each ounce is approximately 125 seeds, which is generally enough to plant at least a ten foot row.
Planting Instructions: Loosen rich well-drained soil in a location that receives six to eight hours of full sunlight per day. Add compost or fertilizer before planting.

Plant seeds directly outdoors in spring or fall when temperatures are cool. Plant 1½ inches deep, one to two seeds every two inches. Keep moist until germination. Thin to one plant every two inches in rows spaced thirty inches apart.

★★★★★ Hands Down the Best Snow Pea
By Martin Valeri on January 2, 2021

I wish I could find a snap pea or a shell pea that I like as much as I like the Oregon Sugar Pod II snow pea. Germination rate is ~80%, which is way better than any other pea I've grown. The vines grew 4' tall (I used a trellis with good results), and the production was fantastic and prolonged. The whole family agreed these peas tasted best, and I have a picky six year old and a picky nine year old. We ate most fresh. Stringless.

★★★★★ Tasty, easy to grow!
By Catherine Smith on February 21, 2017

We have grown these peas for a couple seasons now, and they are both reliable and delicious. We have had no disease problems, and they yield many pea pods without taking up a lot of space in the garden. My kids love the taste - they eat them right off the vine!
