Our original sample was sent to us in 2003 by Melvin Christensen of Corbett, Oregon who received 'Mediterranean' tomato seeds from a local bee keeper who had brought the variety with him when he moved to the area from the Mediterranean region, years previously. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.

★★★★★ Outstanding!
By Jesse Pagan on February 15, 2019

Huge plants with stocky limbs and blossoms that look like dandelions. Plants were vigorous and very sturdy, even under the weight of the massive sized fruits they produced. Several whoppers per plant including one that was the biggest tomato I've ever grown. We had no problems with disease or BER, but they may just be cultural. They taste wonderful, a perfect balance of sweet and acid. Juicy, but meaty enough to make a delicious sauce. We were very pleased with this variety and will be growing it again this year.

★★★★★ My new favorite ... This tomato will not disappoint at all.
By David Martin on August 30, 2016

I agree with everything everyone has said in their reviews on this terrific plant. This tomato will not disappoint at all. I only raised two plants this season (goofy me..lol) and I wished I had put out more. These oxheart-shaped babies are monster sized from one to two pounds. And the great thing about this plant, they had more than one monster tomato per plant. One of the two plants had four one-pounders. I'm not kidding. I couldn't believe it. The only thing holding these huge vines up were the big tomato cages I had around them. Next season, I plan on raising many more of these delights. And the taste was wonderful. This is one of my favorite new tomatoes of the season. I highly recommend trying these for your garden.

★★★★★ The Mediterranean is it.
By Janet Colford on October 13, 2015

For the past 4 years I have been growing different varieties of tomatoes, hoping to find the perfect compliment to the low acid Oxhearts I love. The Mediterranean is it. The plants are vigorous and heavy producers, even in our cooler Maine climate. The fruit is a great balance of acid and sweet, and makes superb sauce. I have a cupboard full of canned Mediterraneans, and still had more to give away.

★★★★★ Really outstanding

Tomatoes the size of grapefruit, very few seeds, sweet flavor. Not as sweet as a cherry tomato but good for a big one. Takes longer to ripen but worth the wait. Make sure to support the plant! The fruits weigh a ton..broke off a branch on one plant.

★★★★★ best tomato i have ever grown
By kathi kaufmann on August 15, 2011

For decades I have planted many heirlooms and this is the best tomato I have ever grown. My Italian family would have loved this tomato. Everything, including its resistance to disease, is superior. I will grow Mediterranean every year.
