Price: $2.95

SKU: 3400861

70 days, indeterminate - The regular leaf plants of 'Main Crop Pink' are vigorous, producing fruit that average about six ounces but can reach twenty ounces. It is a nice flavored, juicy but firm, slicer.

Introduced in by the Livingston Seed Company in 1941, here is their description from the 1941 wholesale catalog:
"Our New Introduction for 1941 - We are pleased to introduce this new variety which is just what its name implies. The fruit are of Livingston's Beauty type but average somewhat larger and are deeper through, making a most handsome tomato. In trials placed with several large market gardeners in 1940 it proved highly satisfactory and profitable. Excellent for green wrap purposes and for picking green before frost to color up in storage."[1]
Our original seed source was USDA accession number NSL 193991.
Fruit Color: Pink
Fruit Color: Purple
Special Groups: Livingston Tomatoes
Harvest Timing: Early/Short Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

Although the name of this variety contains a modern company's name, the seed we are offering is in no way sourced from, "owned by" or connected with that company. The name is simply the historically accurate, common name for the variety giving credit to the seedsman that originally released it.
