Kosovo Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3401421

75 days, indeterminate - 'Kosovo' plants have slightly willowy leaf growth and reach six to eight feet in height. Their fruit are pink, fleshy, and varying in shape - heart, double-heart, and large, flat shapes - all on the same plant, averaging one to two pounds in weight. A very tasty slicer-type variety.Very early for such large fruit.

'Kosovo' was originally sent to us by Glenn Parker of New Zealand. He wrote the following about this variety:
"In 2000, an old-timer came into my nursery and said that his son, who was a UN worker in Kosovo, had sent him seed the previous year of a beautiful Kosovoan tomato."
Introduced commercially in North America by us in 2005.
Fruit Color: Pink
Fruit Color: Purple
Special Groups: "Epic" Tomatoes
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

★★★★★ Germination!

Kosovo tomato seeds - fantastic germination rate. As far as I can tell it was 100%, and the plants are looking great! Thanks! Will do business with you this fall.

★★★★★ My favorite tomato of all
By Lina (Virginia) on August 18, 2023

After trying 50+ heirloom tomatoes, this is my favorite. It's a big, sweeter, meaty tomato on a productive and hearty plant. I had some near a pound. Used three of eight tomato spots for Kosovo this year.

★★★★★ Really impressed with this one!

Really impressed with this one! Much like the Livingston Oxheart but better disease resistance. I had many tomatoes one pound and some plus. I will probably keep this one over the Livingston.
