Matures approximately 290 days from fall planting. German Extra Hardy garlic is a hardneck, porcelain type, so it is very cold hardy and stores longer than some other hardneck types. It has a beautiful ivory outer skin and inner wrappers that are marked with purple streaks. Large bulbs typically have 5 to 7 cloves per bulb.
It has a vibrant, robust flavor that is often preferred in gourmet cooking. It is exceptionally cold-hardy, most often grown in northern climates. When stored properly, the bulbs can keep for up to 6 months.
