Garrison Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3402901

80 days, indeterminate - The regular leaf plants produce beefsteak-type fruit that are large (averaging twelve to sixteen ounces each), meaty, pink in color, with an outstanding, complex flavor that finishes with a hint of sweetness. Under ideal growing conditions twenty-four ounce fruit are possible.

This variety was sent to us by the late Randy Sine who wrote, "I obtained this variety from my friend Walker Roach. He got it from his friends in Pennsylvania, the Garrison family. They told him that they had been growing this variety for three to four generations."
Fruit Color: Pink
Fruit Color: Purple
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

★★★★★ Big wonderful tomato
By Carole Garrison (NC) on February 28, 2023

I bought these last year just to try them. They were prolific and very large. They have a lot of flesh and not as much liquid so they worked really well in my tomato sauce. I looked back in my pictures and I had one that was 1.7 lb's it was as big as the little scale plate. I highly recommend them.
