Exserted Orange Tomato
Exserted Orange Tomato
This is a new tomato from the work of well-known landrace breeder Joseph Lofthouse in collaboration with William Schlegel. This tomato has especially open and exserted flowers, meaning the stigma tends to protrude out of the flower, making it easier to cross pollinate by insects. For the purposes of landrace varieties, this feature makes it much more useful in breeding purposes.
William Schlegel wrote: “This tomato is the result of an open cross between determinate Big Hill which has open and exserted flowers and putatively an unknown orange indeterminate tomato in Malcolm Schraedenderfritz’s garden in 2017. Fruit is variable in size, orange and bicolor fruits are both present. Plants may be determinate or indeterminate."
Each packet contains 20 seeds.
