Early Frosty
65 days — The vines are wilt resistant, uniform, reaching twenty-eight to thirty inches and benefit from some support. 'Early Frosty' is a prolific freezing variety producing pods that are about four inches long, blunt-ended, dark-green in color, and containing seven to eight peas each. A good home garden and fresh market variety used for fresh eating or freezing.
Bred and released by Rogers Brothers Seed Co., Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1966.[1] Each ounce is approximately 150 seeds, which is generally enough to plant at least a ten foot row.
Planting Instructions: Loosen rich well-drained soil in a location that receives six to eight hours of full sunlight per day. Add compost or fertilizer before planting.
Plant seeds directly outdoors in spring or fall when temperatures are cool. Plant 1½ inches deep, one to two seeds every two inches. Keep moist until germination. Thin to one plant every two inches in rows spaced thirty inches apart.

Tip:
Here on the farm, orchard pruning time closely coincides with pea planting time. This means there there is always ample material for pea support. We simply poke twigs into the ground along the pea row and they grow up through them.
