Dwarf Zoe's Sweet Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $3.95

SKU: 3405061

85 days, dwarf — The rugose, chartreuse-colored potato leaf plants of 'Dwarf Zoe's Sweet' reach four to five feet tall. The fruit are oblate shaped, six to sixteen ounces each, and pink in color. The flavor is on the sweet side, and the texture is as meaty as its parent, 'Pale Leaf Mullens Mortgage Lifter'. The chartreuse gene causes plants to grow a bit taller, so this dwarf will require a bit of a taller stake to tame

One of the more unusual of the Dwarf Tomato Project varieties, 'Dwarf Zoe's Sweet' will be a stand out in your garden due to its interesting, chartreuse-colored foliage. Originating from the "Morty" family, Craig LeHoullier selected and named the variety after his beloved black lab. Additional contributions are from Nancy Ruhl and Bill Minkey. It was introduced by the Victory Seed Company for the 2021 gardening season. Each packet contains at least 20 seeds.

★★★★☆ Striking, tall dwarf
By Jan Hersey (Anacortes, WA) on January 31, 2024

Zoe's Sweet is among the tallest of the dwarf varieties, reaching 5-6-feet in my hoop house last summer and definitely requiring staking. At 85 days, it's a long wait here in the PNW, but the puckered chartreuse leaves are beautiful to look at and once it started producing, it kept on pumping out large, juicy, tasty tomatoes even after a light frost. Their meaty nature makes them a good sauce candidate as well as a flavorful slicer.

★★★★★ An ivory colored delicious slicing tomato on an ornamental plant
By Craig LeHoullier on February 10, 2022

This tomato is closely related to Dwarf Elsie's Fancy. This tends to the ivory colored side of the tomato spectrum, whereas Elsie is more of a butter yellow. Aside from the color difference, both varieties share lush potato leaf foliage splashed with white and good fruit set of medium sized slicing tomatoes with an intense delicious flavor tending to the tart side of things.

★★★★☆ This tomato stands out in your garden - and on your table!
By Craig LeHoullier on February 9, 2022

A chartreuse foliaged tomato plant? Sure! Incorporating genes from the rare pale leaf version of Mullens Mortgage Lifter, this takes on the more stretched , taller character of that variety - but it is still a dwarf, and with lush potato leaf foliage. The tomatoes are medium or larger, quite oblate making it a superb slicer, a glowing pink. The flavor is reminiscent of Mortgage Lifter - full and delightfully sweet. The foliage color makes this plant really stand out in the garden!
