★★★☆☆ Good but not spectacular
By Chris (SE TX (9b)) on June 16, 2024

If this review was about quality of product alone, it would be 5/5. I had 100% germination and the single plant I chose to grow out has been vigorous and hardy. The plant is very productive - in a 5 gallon SIP I will probably get 15-20 tomatoes despite a late start, early heat wave, and severe storms that knocked off some of my early crop. The flavor is decent. It's certainly not bad, but it's not a spectacular, in-your-face heirloom tomato flavor either. It's mild and inoffensive, the kind of tomato you serve to folks who don't really like tomatoes that much. It makes a decent salsa, too. But if you're a tomato-head, I'd look elsewhere for a BLT staple. My only major complaint is that it split horribly. We had some stormy weather in the couple weeks leading up to the first fruits ripening and most of them developed multiple deep splits, whereas the Fred's Tie Dye next to it got through with hardly a blemish. Growers in other climates may have a better experience, but I will likely try other green tomatoes before coming back to this one.

★★★★☆ Enjoyable Flavor and the Squirrels Agree
By Samantha Scott on September 11, 2021

Plants were not given enough room to grow this year, but they did ok. I had them in containers less than five gallons in size, so keeping them watered and happy was a bit of a challenge.

Foliage was strong and dark green, and the plants did not exceed 3 feet in height. Fruit was variable in size but mostly round. Flavor is bright but not too tart. Makes a good tomato for eating fresh. Plants are still going in September, and one is still setting fruit.

I would grow this variety again, but with at least a 5 gallon container and possibly some mulching to keep moisture levels appropriate. I haven't had any issues with fungus, but a few fruits developed BER due to watering issues.

These were a favorite of the neighborhood gang of squirrels, but spraying them with hot pepper tea seems to do the trick.
