80 days, dwarf - 'Dwarf Hannah's Prize' has productive, rugose, regular-leaf plants. Its fruit are globe to oblate shaped, red colored, range from six to twelve ounces in weight, and have a nice, well-balanced, slightly tart flavor. Some plants occasionally produce red fruit with vertical green striping.

'Dwarf Hannah's Prize' was selected from the "Softy family" and named by Susan Oliverson, who carried out essentially all of the stabilization effort; Dee Sackett and Craig LeHoullier provided a bit of help on the original Softy family work.

The original release lot of seed was grown by Bill Minkey and it was released in 2018.

Fruit Color: Red
Special Groups: Container Friendly
Special Groups: Dwarf Tomato Project
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

★★★★☆ Wonderful flavor!
By TomatoNut (Texas) on November 6, 2023

I grew many of these in the summer of 2023. Yields were excellent, I was given small to very large meaty fruits. Only downfall is variety isn't quite stable and the majority of my fruits were striped. Yet the striped ones were very pretty! Superb taste from both striped and solid!

★★★★★ Great scarlet tomatoes don't grow on trees. They grow on vines - this is one!
By Craig LeHoullier on February 9, 2022

When we embarked on our project, one big surprise was how much easier it was to come up with great non-scarlet red tomatoes than the typical color. This medium sized, smooth prolific gem is just wonderful. Whether for slicing or salads, the balanced, intense, delicious flavor could just make it find a regular place in your garden.
