Dwarf CC McGee Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3404661

Late-season, dwarf - 'Dwarf CC McGee' has rugose, potato leaf plants that produce good yields of medium-sized, four to eight ounce, ivory colored, oblate shaped tomatoes with elements of both sweet and tart in a full, delicious flavor.

The "Harmony" family originated from a cross made by Patrina Nuske Small between two of the Dwarf Tomato Project releases, 'Dwarf Blazing Beauty' and 'Dwarf Sweet Sue'. 'Dwarf CC McGee' was selected by Susan Oliverson, who named after her paternal grandfather, Claude Clifford McGee.

Others involved in the development of this variety included Craig LeHoullier, Dee Sackett, Lee Newman, and Bill Minkey producing the seed for the introduction.

Fruit Color: White
Fruit Color: Green
Special Groups: Container Friendly
Special Groups: Dwarf Tomato Project
Harvest Timing: Late Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

★★★★★ An ivory colored tomato with character and flavor!
By Craig LeHoullier on February 8, 2022

I finally got around to trying Dwarf CC McGee a few years ago, and I am so glad I did. Indeterminate white fruited tomatoes tend toward blandness. Those we've produced in our dwarf project are simply delicious. This differs in Dwarf Mr. Snow (also superb) in being a bit larger, less oblate, and less aggressively tart. This is really well balanced - tasted blindfolded, no one could guess that the color approaches white!
