Dwarf Buddy's Heart Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $3.95

SKU: 3404971

80 days, dwarf — The rugose, regular leaf plants of 'Dwarf Buddy's Heart' produce scarlet-red colored, heart shaped, medium sized, very meaty fruit. They have a rich, balanced flavor whose texture makes it particularly suited for sauce preparations.

Named for his beloved chocolate lab Buddy, Craig LeHoullier selected and named the variety while working with the "Speckly" family. Many Dwarf Tomato Project volunteers had a hand in its development, including Nancy Ruhl, Susan Oliverson, David Robinson, Mickey Pasco-Powell, Paul Fish, Jared Scoville and Bill Minkey. Each packet contains at least 20 seeds.

★★★★☆ Slice it or sauce it, this fine tomato fits the bill
By Craig LeHoullier on February 7, 2022

We have but a few heart shaped reds in our project, but this is a fine example. The tomatoes tend to be on the meaty side, making them particularly useful for sauce, but the mild, well balanced flavor are great for slicing as well. Productivity is very high. My four star rating is just an indication that it is not among the absolute best flavored of the dwarfs, but will find great use in so many ways that I still highly recommend giving it a try.
