Dwarf Big Valentine Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $2.95

SKU: 3405211

80 days, dwarf - The rugose, potato leaf plants of 'Dwarf Big Valentine' produce high yields of medium to very large (eight to fourteen ounces but can get up to the twenty to twenty-four ounce range), smooth, heart shaped, crimson pink tomatoes. The meaty tomatoes possess a well-balanced, slightly tart but sweet, delicious flavor. The plants average thirty-six inches in height, and, due to the high yield and weight of the tomatoes, require sturdy support.

The Dwarf Tomato Project's "Ivalde" family originated from a cross made by Soren Linnemann between the indeterminate variety 'Vjerino Paradajiz Sjeme' andย  'Wherokowhai'. Craig LeHoullier selected and named 'Dwarf Big Valentine', with Linda Black as the key contributor, along with Bill Minkey, C. Jason Liang, Mike Dunton and John Dunton. It was introduced by the Victory Seed Company in 2022.

Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60ยฐ to 70ยฐ) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

This variety comes from the wonderful Ivalde family, where everything that emerges is a winner. Combining wonderful flavor, size, productivity, heart shaped fruit and a glowing pink color - and potato leaf foliage on a vigorous dwarf growing plant - this variety has it all. You won't believe the size of tomato that can emerge from a compact growing plant.
