Dr. Wyche's Yellow Tomato
Price: $3.45
SKU: 3402871This tomato was originally sent to Craig LeHoullier in 1992 by John D. Green (of 'Cherokee Purple' fame). Craig was the first to make it available to the general public. Mr. Green stated that Dr. John Wyche (who also released 'Cherokee Trail of Tears' bean) sent him this variety just before he passed away in 1985. Dr. Wyche had actually called it 'Hot Yellow' but after his passing, and prior to its commercial release, it was renamed in his honor.
Fruit Color: Yellow
Special Groups: "Epic" Tomatoes
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.
Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

This heirloom tomato is delicious and a strong producer. I grow this one every year. It does get disease in the Southeast by August (May, June, July producing months) but it pumps out big tomatoes until then. I tried Chefs Choice Orange this year too and it has better disease resistance but this tomato has a better taste.

I had tremendous success with Victory's Dr Wyche tomato seeds. I got a huge crop of huge yellow beefsteak tomatoes. I will be growing these again next year

This was my first year growing this yellow tomato. It has been great so far. The plants are hardy and the taste is great. I plan to be growing in the future.

I planted four different varieties from Victory Seeds. My dad planted these every year when he was alive. While they weren't always the prettiest, they were without a doubt, super juicy, sweet, and delicious. I've got one plant and wish I had several! With flavor like the Wyche's I will plant many more next season. Thanks Victory Seeds.
