Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.
Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

Early Girl is part of my garden every year. Even being in Zone 10A, they grow robustly in the fall going into the cooler weather or in the very early spring (like being transplanted out in January or latest February) so you can harvest tomatoes before end of May. They grow on solid stems, usually get 4 to 5 feet tall, do well in 7 to 10 gallon containers. The tomatoes are firm and attractive slicers.

These were the only tomatoes I was able to harden and get outside out of all the ones I started as seeds. They were delicious and perfect for container gardening. I kept seeds for next year.

Grew it in a pot during an extremely hot dry summer. Fruited a little later than anticipated due to the heat but then produced reliably for more than two months. Will definately grow again.

Worst plant ever . We planted 6 of these plants right next to our other dwarf tomatoes . We got 1 ( one ) mis formed tomato . We did try to prune the Extreamly tight branches to get more air into the plant , we still only got 1 tomato off of 6 plants . Will not ever try these again! .

We loved these dwarf early girl's . We did to severe pruning of the branches that do not produce tomatoes 🍅 . We had over 1 lb tomatoes on these plants . They had very few seeds and taste amazing . Would not let me add photos ! We will be growing these again and again .

This is a workhorse and the most productive tomato plants this year in NC 8a.garden. Harvested a 100 off 4 plants. Baseball size, no blemishes, uniform, and medium red. 5 feet tall and bushy which helps to shield tomatoes from scorching southern sun. Disease resistance is fantastic had to prune little.
Taste: clean, fresh, balanced tomato acid/sweet. Great for freezing after using food processor to chop up. A definite winner! Will grow again!

These Bush Early Girl F1 Hybrid tomatoes produce larger slicing tomatoes that are still meaty enough to make great tomato sauce. This example weighed in at 1.03 lbs. They are the only tomatoes that I grow in my Alaska greenhouse.

I like to grow heirlooms but have always planted Early girls to enjoy while I wait for the heirlooms.
Now I will plant these Bush early girls to enjoy even before the regular Early girls come.
Lots of BIG and great tasting tomatoes in a small footprint.
Planed at the same time they came in big time a week before the regular early girls even started ripening!
I had already harvested 6-8 tomatoes from the plant in the picture!
9 of 10 seeds germinated.
