Determinate. 68 days to maturity. Bobcat is an F1 hybrid beefsteak tomato bred for gardeners who want big slicing tomatoes without a lot of room. It matures in about 68 days, which puts ripe fruit on the counter earlier than most beefsteak types.
The plant is determinate with a bush growth habit, but it grows quickly. It fills out into a compact, sturdy bush that fits well in an 18 to 20 inch container. Set one near a porch, patio, or back door and you can pick fruit without walking out to the garden.
Fruit averages 7-10 ounces and ripens to a glossy, deep red. The shape is a classic round globe with smooth skin. Inside, the flesh is firm, meaty, and juicy, with a good balance of sugar and acid that gives it full tomato flavor. Slices hold together well, so it works for sandwiches, burgers, salads, and fresh eating straight off the plant.
