Australian Giant Oxheart Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Price: $3.95

SKU: 3401271

85 days, indeterminate - The delicious fruit of these large, wispy, regular leaf plants are huge (up to twenty ounces), red in color, heart-shaped and possess very few seeds.

This variety was sent to us many years ago by a Juanita Stallard from Kentucky who received seeds from a friend. She wrote, "A man from Barbourville, Kentucky, while on a trip to Australia, was served these unusual and delicious tomatoes for breakfast. He was told the tomatoes were grown by local farmers. He scooped a few seeds up in his handkerchief and brought them home with him. Good luck for us, they're great."
Fruit Color: Red
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Sow seeds indoors (do not direct sow into the garden), using sterile seed starting mix, 6 to 8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Plant 1/4" deep, water lightly but keep moist until emergence.

Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.

Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.
