Price: $4.45
SKU: 3402341Sent to us by Dr. Carolyn Male. She told us that 'Ashleigh' was originally listed by her friend and SSE member, Neil Gillard (ONT GI N) of Ontario, Canada. He received the seeds from his friends at Wilber Lake, near Eganville Ontario. The seed's origin is reportedly from the village of Lazec, Macedonia. Mr. Gillard named the variety after his niece.
Fruit Color: Purple
Harvest Timing: Main Crop / Mid-Season
Full light and cooler temps (60° to 70°) will help to prevent the seedlings from becoming too leggy. If plants become rootbound before you can safely set them into the ground, transplant them into larger pots.
Harden off plants before planting outside. Young plants are very susceptible to frost and sunburn damage. Avoid too much nitrogen. Water evenly but not in excess.

We had 100% germination. Plants were big, tall, strong/hardy and very productive. Mostly heart shaped, a few beefsteak-type fruits. They were solid, meaty, and wonderfully flavored. Our tomatoes were huge, most in the 2 to 3 pound range; a few of them pushing four pounds. Good support advised. Ashleigh was also hands down the best fried green tomato, and also dehydrated exceptionally well. She is one of our three favorites, that we will always grow.

The plants were large, many blossoms and several tomatoes weighing up to 2 pounds. This is possibly the best heirloom of not only this season, but of the past few years for me. This has become a favorite of mine. I cannot wait until next spring. I highly recommend this heirloom.

Very, very good germ, no pest problems and very little disease (and that was very late in the season). Six foot plants and still growing at frost-kill, monster fruits, perfect classic flavor. Indeterminate for sure, but did begin a little later than I had hoped; will set them out a week or so earlier next year (yes, that means I'm growing these again!).

These tomatoes are possibly the best tomatoes I've ever grown! They were large with no splitting. I grew them at the end of my deck with basil planted in-between. I will definitely grown this type every year! Fantastic tomato!
