Anna Dutka Family Heirloom
90 days, indeterminate — The vigorous, regular leaf vines of 'Anna Dutka Family Heirloom' grow tall and will require staking or other support. Its fruit are pink, oblate shaped, and large. Their average size range is from six to twenty-four ounces, but specimens reaching over two pounds have been reported. An excellent slicing tomato, their flavor is nice and mild, and even the largest fruit retain a firm texture.
Sent to us by Craig LeHoullier who wrote, "Very large oblate smooth pink, excellent flavor. Reminds me of 'Dester' a bit; lovely variety." He received the seeds from Roman Figun of California. Mr. Figun told us that his grandfather, Peter Dutka, brought the seeds back to the United States in the 1960s after visiting family in Poland. For the next thirty years his grandmother, Anna Dutka, raised the tomatoes in the large garden of the family farm in Indiana, often sharing seeds and plants with local friends and neighbors. Roman's grandfather passed away in 1977, and his grandmother, Anna Dutka, in 1998.
Roman has been stewarding his family's heirloom since 1999 and it was introduced to the gardening public by the Victory Seed Company for the 2021 gardening season. Each packet contains at least 20 seeds.
