Zucchini
(Cucurbita pepo)
45 to 50 days — The compact, bush-type plants of 'Ananashyi' zucchini are very productive. Harvest when the fruit are six to eight inches long by two inches in diameter and they are beautiful, bright yellow in color. At maturity, they turn a deeper yellow, almost orange color. Occasionally, a plant will produce yellow fruit with green tips but we continue to refine and rogue out this trait.
'Ananashyi' was sent to us by seed saver, Andrey Baranovski of Minsk, Belarus (BELR BA A). Each packet contains three grams, which is approximately 18 to 20 seeds.
Planting Instructions:
Choose a location that has warm, well-drained and fertile soil. Work in plenty of organic matter and mulch to conserve moisture.
Sow directly into the garden after any threat of frost has past. Sow one inch deep in hills or rows spaced 24 to 30 inches apart.
Harvest when the fruit is six to eight inches long or still tender. Harvest will be lengthened if you keep picking.
