55 days — 'Alicante' is a French filet-type bush green bean, or haricot vert in French. Its compact plants are early, very productive, and exhibits disease resistance to Bean Common Mosaic Virus and Anthracnose. Considered a gourmet variety, they are typically harvested as a fresh green beans and served whole but certainly can be used in any recipe, such as soups and casserole, calling for green beans. Each packet contains one-half ounce, which is approximately 70 to 75 seeds.
Sow seeds 1½ inches deep, every two to three inches. Bush-type beans do not require support.
Pick the pods while young as they are more tender and succulent and less likely to be stringy.
