Abu Rawan

80 days, determinate — The compact, regular-leaf plants of 'Abu Rawan' do really well in hot weather and are productive. Their fruit are oblate shaped, red colored, two to four ounces each and have a nice, tangy, classic red tomato flavor.

We do not have documentation about this variety. It was sent to us by one of our gardening friends who told us that it originated in Iraq. It was reportedly introduced into North America by an Iraqi named Nael Aziz and named after the greenhouse manager at the Agricultural College at Al Ghraib. Each packet contains at least 20 seeds.

★★★★★ Tough tomato

I grew these from seed last year in containers in hot desert climate. Started them indoors Jan 2, went outside March 1 and harvest was mid June I believe. I had absolutely no issues with pests or disease. Awesome yield. I’ll definitely plant these again and will stagger my seed start again in February as to prolong my harvest another month. I definitely recommend this variety for those in zone 9.
